Description
DMT200 Drone Adapter Bracket
The DMT200 is a precision drone deployment accessory designed to enable aerial operation of compatible SLAM200 Series LiDAR scanners on supported DJI drone platforms. Using DJI’s SkyPort payload interface, the DMT200 creates a compact, integrated mounting solution that securely connects the scanner to the aircraft for mobile aerial LiDAR data collection workflows.
By taking SLAM scanning into the sky, the DMT200 expands the flexibility of the SLAM200 platform beyond handheld, backpack, vehicle, and tripod workflows. Drone deployment enables efficient collection across large outdoor environments, open terrain, construction sites, corridors, industrial facilities, stockpiles, campuses, and difficult-to-access areas where ground-based collection may be slower, less practical, or operationally challenging.
System Overview
- Drone deployment accessory for compatible SLAM200 Series scanners
- Supports DJI drone platforms using the SkyPort payload interface
- Compatible with DJI M300 and DJI M350 platforms
- Compact, lightweight design constructed from aerospace aluminum alloy
- Secure locking payload connection for stable in-flight operation
- Integrated scanner power and communication connection through the drone platform
- Supports RTK-enabled aerial SLAM workflows using the drone platform’s GNSS system
Why Drone-Based SLAM
- Rapid large-area coverage — efficiently capture large outdoor environments and long linear corridors
- Access difficult terrain — scan elevated, obstructed, hazardous, or difficult-to-reach locations
- Flexible aerial workflows — bridge the gap between traditional UAV photogrammetry and ground-based LiDAR collection
- Improved operational efficiency — reduce the need for repeated ground traverses across large project sites
- Integrated SLAM mobility — combine aerial mobility with SLAM trajectory processing for dynamic collection workflows
Scanner Compatibility & Performance Considerations
- Compatible with the SLAM200, SLAM200E-32, and SLAM200E-16
- SLAM200 is the recommended aerial platform due to its longer-range 32-channel LiDAR configuration
- The SLAM200’s increased range better supports higher-altitude and faster flight operations
- SLAM200E-32 can also perform effectively in aerial workflows with appropriate flight planning and operating parameters
- SLAM200E-16 may be used for specialized workflows, though lower channel density and reduced range require more conservative mission settings
- Flight altitude, speed, terrain texture, and scene geometry all influence aerial SLAM performance and trajectory quality
RTK & Positioning Integration
- The DMT200 integrates directly with the drone platform’s GNSS and RTK positioning system
- Supports aerial workflows utilizing RTK correction services through the drone platform
- No separate scanner-mounted GNSS antenna is required during drone deployment
- Positioning and correction data are supplied through the aircraft interface
- Supports improved trajectory stability and positioning performance during aerial acquisition
Workflow & Operation
- The scanner continues to operate through the familiar SLAM GO mobile application workflow
- Scanning can be started or stopped before takeoff or during flight operations
- The scanner is powered directly through the drone platform during operation
- Supports planned aerial mission workflows using DJI flight route planning tools
- Recommended operations include clearly distinguishable ground features and RTK-enabled flight configurations
- Mission planning parameters such as altitude, speed, and route spacing should be adjusted based on scanner model and project conditions
Deployment Flexibility
- Part of the broader Deployment Methods ecosystem (handheld, vest, backpack, vehicle, tripod, drone)
- Allows rapid transition between aerial and ground-based workflows using the same scanner platform
- Supports integrated reality-capture workflows across complex project environments
- Can be purchased as a standalone accessory or integrated into a complete system configuration
